Artificial Fragrance Vs. Natural Fragrance

Since ancient times, natural aromas found in plants and flowers have captured the hearts of men and women. Essential oil extraction from plants and flowers is not a new art-form at all. However, the production and use of artificial fragrance is relatively very new. They are cheap to make and easy to mass produce. Thousands of synthetic chemicals are used to create artificial fragrances and repeated exposure to these substances is most definitely not good for our health. The extent to how harmful these substances can be is unknown but only because there is little regulation and they don’t get tested! Some people assume they are allergic to all fragrances because of the intense reactions they have gotten from artificial perfumes. Essential oils and artificial perfumes should never be referred to in the same way! Not only do essential oils remind us of the true natural beauty of scents around us, but when used sensibly they can be beneficial to our health also. Each essential oil has its own list of specific properties. Many of them counteract free-radicals and can provide valuable psychological and physical therapeutic benefits. The only advantage of artificial perfumes and fragrances is that they may last longer. The problem here though is that you can just reek for hours if ever you use a little too much. Smelling softer and more subtle with naturally scented lotions and oils is definitely a healthier and more holistic approach. You’ll know that no one will start sneezing when they approach you and also when breathing the scents in or absorbing them through your skin, you’re not damaging your health. Plus, like most things, why use fake when you can get the real thing?

Understantding your Skin Types

There are four skin types. Different skin types may need different approaches to achieve healthy skin. It is important to use the appropriate skin care tips for each skin type.

Normal skin has the proper balance between oil and moisture, so that it is not greasy or dry. It looks clear, supple and healthy. Normal skin still needs good skin care, but requires less treatment than other skin types.

Dry Skin cannot retain moisture as well as normal skin. It may flake and it is prone to wrinkles and lines. Important skin care tips for dry skin include the regular use of a good moisturiser. Rice Moisturising Face Cream works well and is inexpensive

Oily skin has an over secretion of sebum. There is excess oil on the surface of the skin. Oily skin often develops spots and pimples. Important skin care tips for oily skin include regular and thorough cleansing and moisturising. Try the Shiso skin care collection.

Combination skin is a combination of both oily and dry skin. The forehead, nose and chin may be oily, and the cheeks and other areas may be dry. Each area should be given the right skin care that is needed for that skin type

Tips for Healthy Looking Skin

Vitamin power revitalize your skin with a reqular intake of vitamins.
Vitamin A help repair body tissue, prevents skin dryness and postpone aging. Make sure you get lots of vitamin A by supplementing your diet with milk, cheese, eggs, butter, spinash, broccolli, carrots and fish oils. However, Vitamin A is fat soluble that gets stored in the liver. Excess intake of vitamin A simply will overload the kidney.
Vitamin B improves circulation and skin color and can be found in yogurt, brown bread, wheat germ, yeast, cereal and green leafy vegetables. Vitamin B is water soluble, which means it can be taken daily.
Vitamin C helps maintain levels of collagen, a protein constituent of skin that is essential to keep skin smooth, firm and healthy looking. Eat lots of citrus fruits, strawberries, blackcurrants, potatoes, cabbage and sprouts. Vitamin C is also water soluble and can be taken on a daily basis.
Water flushes out the toxins. Consciously make an effort to have at least 8-12 glasses daily.
Your skin, which is prone to damage during the day, is repaired as you sleep. Some people require as much as eight to nine hours of sleep every night; others can make do with just five hours. Remember, there is no substitute for sleep if you want great skin.

An oil that does it all!

Thann's Bath and Massage oils (see our products by clicking here) are definately something to fall in love with! What I love about these oils is that they can be used many different ways. It has become my weekly routine to endulge in an aromatherapy hot bath with The Aromatic Wood oil. It has a beautiful natural warm and spicy scent. A couple times a week, I also love smoothing a generous amount all over for an intensive moisturizing treatment. The main ingredient is rice bran oil. This amazingly nourishing oil feels so different to other oils. Its ability to absorb into the skin is incredible! Even after using it as a massage oil, you never have to wash or wipe the residue off, because there is none! After relaxing a few moments, you're left with only velvety soft skin. No greasy or sticky feel! It's so good that you'll have a hard time deciding wether to share it or keep it all for yourself.
